Iberia's Intrepid & Immaculate Green Steel Inception

Spain's Hydnum Steel moves closer to building the Iberian Peninsula's first fossil-free steel plant. The government of Castilla-La Mancha launched a public consultation on April 27, 2026, for the project's Project of Singular Interest status. The facility in Puertollano targets a ninety-eight percent cut in carbon emissions compared to traditional steelmaking. Valued at one point six five billion euros, the plant will produce up to two point seven million metric tons of flat steel annually across two phases.
