H Acero is a Spanish green steel research initiative led by Sarralle, bringing together fourteen Basque Country partners including Sidenor, CELSA, and ArcelorMittal to integrate green hydrogen into steel production. The eight point nine million euro project, funded by the Basque Government and the European Regional Development Fund, focuses on equipment development, refractory materials, hydrogen production, and process optimisation. Sarralle has also partnered with French electrolyser specialist Elogen to develop hydrogen generation equipment tailored for steel plants, advancing Spain's industrial decarbonisation agenda.
