GravitHy is developing a two-point-two billion euro green iron plant at Fos-sur-Mer in southern France, targeting two million metric tons of green direct reduced iron annually from twenty twenty-seven. The consortium includes EIT InnoEnergy, Engie, Plug, FORVIA, Groupe IDEC, and Primetals Technologies. The plant will use green hydrogen to replace coal in iron production, cutting carbon dioxide emissions dramatically. It supports France's goal of reducing steel sector emissions by forty percent by twenty thirty.
