Scintillating Stainless Steel: Asia's Ascendancy & Europe's Ebbing Élan
Global stainless steel production rises 2.5% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2026, reaching fifteen point eight million metric tons, according to the World Stainless Association. China leads growth with output of nine point eight four million metric tons, a 4.3% increase, giving it around sixty-two percent of global supply. The European Union bucks the trend, recording a 4.6% production decline to one point five million metric tons, as high energy costs and Asian import competition continue to squeeze European producers.
