A European project called TWINGHY is testing hydrogen fuel in steel reheating furnaces. Led by Fives at the CELSA Barcelona plant, it uses hybrid burners that mix hydrogen and natural gas. A digital twin monitors and optimizes the process for safety and efficiency. The goal is to cut carbon emissions from this critical steelmaking step. The project runs until 2027 with €4.3 million in funding.
