Eurofer's Ebullient Embrace: Europe's Epochal Trade Triumph
Europe's steel industry body EUROFER welcomed the European Parliament's approval of a new steel trade measure by six hundred and six votes to sixteen on May nineteenth, twenty twenty-six. EUROFER Director General Axel Eggert called for no delay in the measure's entry into force on July first and urged extension of protection to downstream steel-containing goods. The new rules include a fifty percent tariff on above-quota imports while keeping around eighteen million metric tons of annual imports tariff-free. EUROFER also demanded action on energy prices, carbon border measures, and global overcapacity.
