EU & US: Fractious Friction & Flagging Fortitude in Ferrous Feuds

Germany & France have rejected the latest United States proposal to resolve the steel & aluminium tariff dispute, saying it worsens conditions for roughly half of affected goods. The European Commission is now considering countermeasures while technical talks continue. The broader EU-US trade agreement, reached last July, remains unratified after two parliamentary suspensions. The European Parliament insists American tariffs on metal-containing goods must fall to fifteen percent before European trade preferences take effect.
