European green steel faces a cost crisis. A new study shows electricity prices in the EU are up to four times higher than in competing nations. This makes locally produced green steel structurally uncompetitive. The MENA region, possessing cheap solar power & natural gas, will produce hydrogen at half Europe's cost by 2030. Consequently, the EU may increasingly import cheap, green iron from the Middle East.
