British Steel: Starmer's Scunthorpe Stratagem Stuns Jingye
Britain is set to nationalise British Steel for the first time since 1988, after talks with Chinese owner Jingye Group broke down. Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced legislation granting the government full ownership of the Scunthorpe plant, home to the UK's last two blast furnaces. The government has already spent over £419 million ($570 million) keeping the site running. Around 3,500 workers now await a more stable future under public ownership
