Dofasco's Decisive & Dauntless Decarbonisation Dismantles Dirty Dominion
ArcelorMittal Dofasco has permanently closed its Number 3 Coke Plant in Hamilton, Ontario, as part of its plan to replace coal-based steelmaking hydrogen-powered direct reduction technology. The Canadian federal government has committed around $400 million CAD to support the transformation. The closure cuts CO₂ and air pollutant emissions at the historic site and strengthens Dofasco's position as a preferred supplier of low-carbon steel to Canada's automotive industry.
