Galvanizing's Glorious Resurrection & Belgium's Bold Rebirth

ArcelorMittal Belgium restarts its Galva 5 hot-dip galvanizing line in Flémalle, Liège, after four years of inactivity. The line, reacquired in July 2025 and fully modernized, processes hot-rolled steel coils from the Ghent plant into thick-gauge galvanized steel for road safety, HVAC, industrial, and automotive uses. Around seventy employees now operate the facility. The restart adds a unique thick-gauge coating capability to Belgium's steel production network and supports ArcelorMittal's lower-carbon steel strategy across Europe.
