Furnaces Flicker Yet Forge Forward: Kryvyi Rih's Resilient Resolve

ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih expects to operate two blast furnaces throughout 2026, CEO Mauro Longobardo announced in an interview with Interfax Ukraine. January power outages forced temporary single-furnace operation and damaged equipment when cooling systems failed for three to five hours, requiring a week of repairs. The mining division operates at 75% capacity, producing 7.5 million metric tons of concentrate annually. Despite challenges, the company increased 2025 production, with pig iron rising 16.9% and steel up 2.3% compared to 2024. Coal is sourced globally, with port delays affecting deliveries.
